Why we are looking precisely for you

With a probability of 20-30% a compatible donor will be found among the relatives, mostly a sibling; this is referred to as "related blood stem cell donation". Everyone else must rely on a suitable unrelated donor being found.

The chances of finding an unrelated donor vary a lot, often they are very small and depend on how common the tissue markers are among donors. This is why it is so important that as many people as possible are registered as blood stem cell donors, not only in Switzerland, but worldwide.
